How the web is evolving
Students will be expected to be aware of the major differences between the early forms of the web, Web 2.0, the semantic web and later developments.
Evolution[edit]
When we discuss how the web is evolving, we are actually looking at the simultaneous growth of different aspects:
- Web browser
- New technologies to render / deliver content in a browser (svg, flash, html, xml, css, javascript)
There is an excellent resource aptly named the evolution of the web which illustrates how these two aspects have grown and changed over the years. Remember we only got started in 1991!
We might imagine a very static (one-way) experience to a more dynamic, interactive (two-way) experience for users on the web.
Do you understand this?[edit]
