Grading, assessment, and knowing[1]

I do not allow students to retake exams. Many students get the idea that they don't have to take a test seriously until the retake.

I will allow a corrections assignment where the student corrects the answers they got wrong, with a complete explanation of why this is now the correct answer. I think the corrections assignment, which is added on our gradebook as an extra grade, is a much stronger learning experience than simply offering a retake. [2]
