Software as a service (SaaS)

From Computer Science Wiki

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a cloud computing model in which a third-party provider delivers software applications over the Internet. SaaS allows organizations to use and access software applications on a pay-as-you-go basis, rather than having to purchase, install, and maintain the software themselves.

SaaS providers typically host and manage the software, as well as the underlying infrastructure, such as servers, storage, and networking. This allows organizations to access and use the software from any location with an Internet connection, and eliminates the need to worry about maintenance, updates, and security.

SaaS is often used for a variety of applications, including business applications like customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP), as well as productivity applications like word processors and spreadsheet programs. It is an attractive option for organizations that want to access software applications without the upfront costs and ongoing maintenance associated with traditional software deployment models.
